posted 05/06/2012 Four players from CUFC U12 Black/Chicago Fire U12 Academy recently attended the US Club Soccer id2 National Identification and Development Training Camp. Eduardo Garcia attended the camp in Raleigh NC in March while Nick Markanich, Anthony Markanich and David Portugal attended the camp in Irvine CA in April. US Club Soccer’s id2 Program provides an opportunity for the country's elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed, while also being scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. A comprehensive national scouting and recommendation program is used to form a player pool from which top players are invited to attend an id2 Program Training Camp. Eduardo, Nick, Anthony and David were among the 120 players from throughout the US born in 1999 to be selected to attend one of the 4-day id2 camps. Congratulations to all 4 players from Chicago United/Chicago Fire Academy! For information on US Club id2 click here.

Both players along with Bryce Blevins (TC Chicago U10/Chgo Fire Academy) were selected by Chicago Fire to travel to the UK to fully integrate into the academy system for 2 weeks. David, who played with the Nottingham Academy team last year, joined the BCFC U13s, while Anthony joined the U12s and Bryce, the U10s. Each player participated in 5 training sessions each week and a match vs Bristol City Academy the first week and Aston Villa Academy the second week. All three players made the most of their opportunities, favorably impressing the BCFC coaching staff and at the end of the 2 weeks, receiving an invitation to return to BCFC Academy. | | | | Chicago United 99/00 U11 Black Wins US Club Regionals | | | | | | | by
posted 07/02/2011 CUFC 99/00 U11 Black closes the season in superb fashion capturing the US Club Regional U11 Boys title in Libertyville. The team played in the U11 Super Group which consisted of the top midwest regional teams including Chicago Magic, Sockers, Chicago Fire Juniors, Libertyville Black, and St. Croix Tsunami from Minnesota. CUFC earned a trip to the finals by defeating in convincing fashion Chicago Magic 3-0, Sockers 4-2 and Tsunami 8-0. Despite 90 plus degree tempartures, CUFC dominated in the finals against the top YSSL U11 team Libertyville SC winning 5-0 with stifling defense allowing only 1 shot on goal and nearly 75% possession. The team dictated the game from the onset with Alfredo Guzman netting a long range bomb with less than 1 minute from the start of the match. Flavio Terrazas and Leo Carreon continued the scoring trend with distance strikes of their own and Nick Markinich highlighted the 2nd half making the most of his chances with a pair of nice finishes. Congratulations to the entire U11 Black team! Back to top
